Doublelift (born July 19, 1993) is a non-partnered livestreamer on Twitch and professional League of Legends player, currently part of Team Solo Mid. He has also spent several years playing for Counter Logic Gaming and Team Liquid. He has had one of the longest careers of a player in the North American League of Legends Championship Series and has appeared in the League of Legends World Championship several times. He's widely regarded as one of the most mechanically skilled AD carries in North America. It's a title that he is both confident in owning, and very driven to maintain.

Biography

Doublelift hails from Mission Viejo, California. Doublelift first discovered his love for video games through the classic Nintendo 64 titles Star Fox and Golden Eye. After his brother got a computer, Doublelift frequently used it to play Diablo 1 and StarCraft. Since Doublelift’s brother would buy a new computer every few years, Doublelift soon came to own his own hand-me-down desktop. This allowed him to spend more time playing computer games such as DotA, WoW, and HoN with his brother and friends. Eventually they all left these games behind and moved to LoL.

Doublelift was born on July 19, 1993 and grew up in Mission Viejo, California. Doublelift has a brother who is seven years older. He is of Chinese descent. Peng was eventually kicked out of his home by his parents after he had got back from DreamHack Summer 2011. Peng eventually moved in with Travis "Tnomad" Gafford prior to joining Counter Logic Gaming and living in their gaming house.

2011

Known for his Blitzcrank, Doublelift gained the attention of George "HotshotGG" Georgallidis in early 2011, and the two duo queued together. HotshotGG asked him to join Counter Logic Gaming as a substitute which he accepted, but soon moved to Epik Gamer for a starting position as their Support. Doublelift then moved on to unRestricted to become their starting AD Carry. Some time afterwards the team was acquired by Curse Inc. and he competed for Curse at LAN events such as IGN Proleague and IEM New York.

In November 2011, Doublelift left Curse and rejoined CLG, now as their starting AD Carry.

2012

CLG prime would attend the 2012 MLG Fall Championship in Dallas on November 2 through 4th. In the first round they faced the Korean powerhouse NaJin Sword, where they were routed in two lopsided matches. Falling to the losers bracket, CLG Prime would sweep Curse Gaming in round one, and then pick up a close 2-1 series against another NA team Dignitas. They faced their sister team CLG EU in Round 3 and lost 2-1 and were eliminated from the tournament. CLG Prime finished in 4th with $2,000 in winnings.

On November 29, CLG would enter the IPL 5 tournament held in Las Vegas. In the group stages CLG Prime would dispatch the newly formed Team FeaR twice while dropping a game to CLG EU to advance. In the first round they would defeat Curse EU 2-1, and then move on to face FnaticRC. CLG Prime took the first game off Fnatic with sharp play from their Jiji's Twisted Fate, however the champion was quickly banned out and CLG Prime would lose the next two games. In the losers bracket CLG Prime would face Moscow 5, they would take the first game of the set, but then fell twice against the Russian team, finishing their run in the tournament. CLG Prime would place 5th-6th with $2,500 in prize money. CLG Prime outperformed most expectations of them at tournament, with a strong showing of Chauster as the new jungler, they also challenged the perception of Team SoloMid as the strongest team in the NA scene.

2013

On February 27, 2013, CLG participated in Riot Season 3 NA Championship Series Spring Season. After 10 weeks Round Robin with Team SoloMid, Team Dignitas, Team Vulcun, Team MRN, Curse Gaming, Good Game University and compLexity Gaming, CLG successfully qualified to Sping Season Playoffs. However, CLG was outplayed by Team Vulcun with 1-2 in Quarterfinals, placed 5th-6th with Team Dignitas. Also, CLG failed to qualify to Riot Season 3 NA Championship Series Summer Season and participated in Summer Promotion. In the Summer Promotion, CLG faced Azure Cats in the promotion match. Fortunately, CLG defeated Azure Cats 3-0, securing their spot in the Riot Season 3 NA Championship Series Summer Season.

Doublelift represented North America in the 2013 All Star tournament.

The Summer LCS Season proved to rocky for the new CLG roster, spending most of the season competing to stay in middle of the pack, ending the season in 6th place with a 13-15 but able to make it into the playoffs. Their first game was against old time rivals TSM but they were unable to win a game, going 0-2, losing their chance to make it to the Season 3 World Championship. They went on to face Team Curse to compete for the 5th place spot to win a spot back for the Season 4 Spring LCS. They were able to come together and go 2-0 and win back the spot into the league.

2014

CLG finished 3rd in the 2014 NA LCS Spring Regular Season, and then 3rd again in the playoffs after a 2-0 loss to Team Curse. Doublelift represented North America in the 2014 All Star tournament. Doublelift and CLG then placed 5th LCS North America Season 3 Summer Regular Season. Afterwards they got 6th in the playoffs when they were immediately defeated 3-1 by Team Dignitas CLG placed 2nd at IEM Season IX - Cologne.

2015

CLG and Doublelift were fined on January 6, 2015 after being found guilty of poaching ZionSpartan. CLG was fined $2,000 while Doublelift was fined $2,500. Furthermore, CLG was restricted from fielding ZionSpartan as a player or coach for the first week of the 2015 LCS Spring Split.

For the first eight weeks of the spring split, CLG were never lower in the standings than tied for second place. At the end they lost a second-place tie breaker to Cloud9 and so ended up in third place in the regular season. Ultimately, CLG lost to Team Liquid in the quarterfinals and ended the split tied for fifth place with Gravity Gaming.

Echoing their spring split performance, CLG started the summer split strong, in first place at the end of each of the first four weeks and then lost four games in a row to finish tied for fifth after week six. This time, they rebounded and ended the season in second, behind Team Liquid and with a 13-5 record. They received a bye in the first round of the playoffs and then swept both Team Impulse and Team SoloMid 3-0, to win their first LAN event since MLG Raleigh in 2011 nearly four years prior - and Doublelift's first ever - and receive North America's top seed to Worlds. In their group draw with KOO Tigers, Flash Wolves, and paiN Gaming, CLG did not advance, ending with a 2-4 record including a loss to paiN.

Doublelift was benched during the Summer LCS due to an injury incurred from playing basketball On July 4 Doublelift became the first player in the NA LCS to reach 500 kills

In August Doublelift helped CLG win their first ever LCS Split playoff title. The victory also qualified them for the 2015 League of Legends World Championship. At Worlds CLG failed to make the bracket and finished 12/13th. On October 31 CLG announced that they had kicked Doublelift off the team for an unspecified reason. Soon afterwards Team SoloMid made the announced that he would be joining their team.

Departure from Counter Logic Gaming

Counter Logic Gaming is sadly announcing today that the team has parted ways with Peter "Doublelift" Peng. Doublelift has been one of the core members of CLG for the past four years and one of the legacy players that fans of old still love to this day. We are proud to have won a championship with Doublelift as a CLG member. It took four years of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice - but we did it together.

That is why this decision was not taken lightly. Doublelift's persistence and drive to be better, while still remaining a top talent after four years is a testament to the player that he is. Those years were not without disagreements however, and over the course of time have created a heavy burden on the relationship between Doublelift and the organization. It is difficult to make compromises with the past always present. After painstaking deliberation, it was decided that it was in the best interest of CLG that Doublelift be released from the team.

Although he will no longer wear the CLG colors, there is no doubt that Doublelift will continue to be one of the best players in North America. We wish him well and look forward to hopefully facing him in the LCS next year. In the Spring Split CLG finished 3rd in regular season and 5th/6th in playoffs after losing to Team Liquid 0-3. In the Summer Split CLG finished in second after losing to Team Liquid in a Tiebreaker. Doublelift was OP Player 3 times in Summer Split in weeks 1, 3, and 8 as well as being the Weekly MVP in week 8. Finishing in 2nd earned them a bye in the playoffs where they played Team Impulse and won 3-0 sending them to the finals against long time rivals TSM. After another 3-0 Victory against TSM, CLG Qualified for the 2015 World Championship.

• The name "Doublelift" came from Yiliang's interest in magic tricks. The Double Lift is the name of a basic sleight of hand card trick.
